I'm Shane Parker, and I'm still figuring out how to describe what I do.
The short version: I'm a software engineer. I've been doing this for about ten years now. Started as an intern building dashboards for an IoT company, ended up working on a travel booking platform, then a social media analysis tool, then co-founded a small IT business and sold it, and now I'm at GoDaddy working on their content creation tools. It's been a weird path but I've liked most of it.
The honest version: my brain doesn't sit still. I get interested in something, go deep for a while, and then something else catches my attention. That sounds like a bad thing but it's actually how I ended up being decent at this job — I like pulling apart problems I don't fully understand yet.
The thing I care about most is who I'm working with. I don't do well in environments where people aren't straight with each other. Give me a team where you can say "I messed up" without it being a big deal, where feedback is honest and nobody's protecting their ego. That matters more to me than the tech stack or the product.
